Conference Presentation in Cardiff

Titled 'Visions of Transformation', Aaron Watson's paper outlined his ongoing investigations into the visual properties of Neolithic monuments. In recent years, this has entailed fieldwork at key sites in Wales, Scotland and Ireland, revealing their capacity to 'project' animated images of the sun, landscape and people into the darkness of their chambers. The paper considered the ritual implications of these effects, and whether they might be interpreted with reference to the anthropology of shamanism.
